About Chantal
Chantal grew up dancing on her dad’s feet, acting in theatre and short plays all through her childhood, dressing herself up (and her younger brother) in her Mother’s dance costumes, but never considering that she would dance herself. In 2003, she went along to a dance class to keep a friend company, and she lost herself to Latin dance straight away, in particular to Tango, Samba, Zouk, Gafieira and Salsa.
“After travelling to Brazil in 2004 and experiencing the Carnival, the people and the places, I have not been able to turn back, and I continue to travel the world for dance and enjoy the friendships, the freedom of expression, and the simple communication without words that dancing brings.”
Chantal aspires to become a great Burlesque star. She loves everything about Japan, and enjoys watermelons on a hot summer’s day.
Most recently attended events include:
- Sydney Salsa Congress 2009 (performer)
- Queensland State Titles, Professional Division Salsa On2 (2008) 3rd place
- Hong Kong Salsa Festival 2007(performer)
- Darling Harbor Latin Fiesta 2006 (performer)
- Woodford Folk Festival 2005: Tango (performer)

I have just completed the Latin Foundation course & have been so impressed with Ian & the team at Smooth Latin Groove. Our group in which I have meet some great people have progressed to a level where we can confidently dance at the social nights which are an awesome way to put our new found skill into practice!
If you are looking for a very well organized Latin dance experience with a group of instructors that are dedicated to your progression then I highly recommend Smooth Latin Groove. I’m looking forward to the next course already

The team at SLG are awesome. I was like most people, should I, shouldn’t I, but I thought why not. I read the testimonials from past students & thought if only half of these are true I may as well give it a go. I am so glad I did!

....you feel very comfortable, even though as a beginner I was quite apprehensive. I soon relaxed and have enjoyed their instruction ever since. The class is not too many and not too few, after just a couple of weeks, everyone in the class know each other and there hasn’t been one person drop out. You can see and feel the improvement in your dancing every lesson, its great. If you have 3 left feet like me, I highly recommend you try this, you will be surprised!
